Earlier today, Laura Reich announced her intention to run for a 2nd term on the Wantagh School Board. Reich has spent the last three years as a trustee on the current board. Her announcement:

As I look back on the last three years I have spent as a trustee on the Wantagh Board of Education, I am in awe of how much we have accomplished, even during a pandemic. We implemented a new, robust learning management system, we equipped every classroom with cameras, we arranged to have our K through 6 learners in the classroom every day, we hired a dynamic building leader in the high school to help lead our hybrid learning model and we rolled out the district’s first Universal Pre-K program. The last three years were nothing anyone could have expected but they have taught me a lot about our school district, our students and our community. I have faced issues as a board member that were unprecedented and have spent countless hours working with our district leaders to help navigate our schools through these challenges. I have been a dedicated volunteer in this district since 2004 because I am passionate about education and providing the best educational experience for our children at every level. I have always supported music and the arts to showcase our students’ talents and our sports programs where our athletes thrive on competition. I also remain committed to making the best budgeting decisions while being fiscally prudent in the interests of the taxpayers. I have always made myself available to the community to listen to their concerns and provide information and explanations about district programs and decisions and promise to continue to do so. For these reasons, I ask for your support as I announce my candidacy for a second term as a member of the Board of Education. I would be honored to serve this community for three more years and promise to continue moving this district forward.

The Wantagh School Board vote takes place on May 17th, 2022.
